TAD TOO MUCH Splashed on 4/17/09

Post by TADTOOMUCH »

All went well with the launch on 4/17/09. No major leaks, nothing broken, everything worked after de-winterizing. The worst thing that happened is the end came off my coaxial cable to the satellite dish.

Weather was 70+ on Friday and Saturday with the same or better expected for this coming weekend. Everyone thought I was crazy to launch this early. They were all stopping by to bring up their summer gear for the dock and marina but their boats were all still in storage.

I still have 120 gallons of $3.70 fuel in my tanks if anyone wants to buy it for that. It will make your boat run really good at that price I'm sure.

NICE!

The mighty Blue Heron splashes next week. Just spent the weekend polishing and waxing the hull. The boat's stored in a big shed cheek to jowl between two other boats and a freakin jet ski on a trailer. Needless to say I played contortionist getting around the hull. My arms are still useless today! Rebuilt the carb, rebuilt the custom cockpit locker, and restiched the cockpit covers. Changed the leaking hoses on the trim tab pistons. Gonna add gutters to the side cabin windows to see if I can eliminate some minor leaking along the bottom edges and the usual streaking on the exterior of the widows.

Gotta full tank of marine non-enthanol gas in the tank. The marinas around our lake are trying to combine their orders to buy non-ethanol from the one suppier who will deliver it. If not, we all get to burn that crap in our boats, and then the real fun will start. Last year a bunch of weekend warriors were having problems because they filled up at the local gas station.

What's the experience out the with ethanol and what recommendations for stabilizers for this stuff?

One knockdown...that was it. It was slow on the Potomac for many, opening day. Mostly due to the rain from last week, and the river was the color of nasty tea and many rock are still up in DC and haven't finished spawning and making the run back down river.

No worries, I'll post pics as soon as I land some cows! :D
