I have a standard 1987 10 meter express with the factory a/c that is built into the bulkhead between the engine room and cabin. When i power up the unit it makes some noise and after a minute the digital readout says "HPF" and then the compressor stops running. I am a certified marine and auto mechanic but do not specialize in a/c's.
The is no overboard water discharge.
Where do i start to troubleshoot this unit? I have access to all the required tools to troubleshoot this.
Any help would be greatly appreciated!!

check out the raw water pump. Could have an airpocket which can prevent it from priming.
Remove the inlet line and checkfor free watr flow.
While you're at it better check the strainer for debris.
The factory unit is a 16,000 btu Cruisair which will freeze you out on even the hottest day.

Failure code
The code is a failure code which is telling you the the computer shut down the unit because of Head Pressure Failure which means there was not enough water running through the unit to cool the refrigerant down in the unit. Your water circulating pump is either not running, not pumping water because the seacock is closed, not pumping because the pump strainer is plugged up with gunk, or the system just lost its prime. try taking off a hose closest to the strainer and put a garden hose up against it and force water through the line with the unit on and see if it runs and cools. This will let you know if your unit works and will also prime the pump if it was dry. Then hook everything back up and see if it will run. Make sure to open the seacock near the tru-hull for the water intake to the AC.

ok i ran the hose thru the a/c and now to HPF code does not flash. I pull the intake vent louvers off at the bottom of my stairs in the cabin. I believe this is the evaporator. It gets ice cold.
My new problem is that the fan does not blow. I have a digital panel and the LED's do go up and down when you manipulate the fan button.
I went down in the engine room and pulled the cover off the a/c controller. Mine is on the overhead stb side of engine room. The wires that go to my 110v water circ pump are not getting power to them at the connector bus???
Any suggestions?
Mike
