Waste tank

Post by Trojan26NC »

Where would the waste holding tank be located in on a 79 26ft? The waste line on the starboard side has been cut out so I could follow it. I am assuming it would be under the shower stall.

Also where would the 20 gal water tank, hot water heater and pump moter have been located?

My two fuel tanks are located under the folding seats (port and starboard). In between the fuel tanks is where the battery bank is located. The two engines take up the room aft of there.

I would like to get everything back to working order.

On my 77 F26 the tank/heater configuration is thus:

Fuel tank (original 70 gal galvanized replaced in 2000 with poly 50 gallon): behind engine directly in front of transom.

Waste tank: located on starboard side just a bit in front of fuel tank, and in front of exhaust/muffler. 25 gallon capacity

Hot water heater (original 12 gallon replaced in 2006 with 11 gallon unit): located ono starboard side forward of waste tank.

Water tank (original round galvanized 15 gallon replaced with new poly 20 gallon in 2001). Located on port side close to bulkhead.

None of the current tanks were relocated from their original, 1977 locations.

Hope that helps.

I will post some pics later today or by tomorrow to show the lay out that I am working with.

Randy yours is totaly different from mine. At the transom are two volvo engines, then in front of them are two 50 gal galv fuel tanks and then the bulkhead to the cabin. In between the tanks is where the battery banks sits.

Another question I have is I see several thru hulls (seacock?) above the water line that don't have shut off valves. I don't want to permently close these opening until I decide if I need them but should they have a shut off valve on them? Or just the ones below the water line?

I think 78 was the first year for the dual-engine option. My 77 options list (on the original paperwork) shows the single Chrysler or Merc as the only engine options. That being the case I can see why your tank set up is different.

As to seacocks, I wish I had them! My set up has two below-waterline intakes that really need them: engine raw water cooling and raw water intake for head. I would think the primary needs on your boat would also be for engine cooling if raw water and head intake also. The other needs would be secondary as far a possible water intrusion would be concerned. At least my opinon.
