Nancy,
If you don't get a bad smell it may be that there are no holes to let water in to the hollow keel. It seems that my boat is that way.... no visible signs for entry... and in winter no sign that water in the keel freezes.

P.S. Can you email me any info on your boat, more photos than I have found on the net.... a buddy up here in Canada is interested in an F32. Do you have a genny?

Michael,

No, definitely no bad smell, but I will be scrutinizing that bilge once again!

E-mail is on the way.

In my boat the glassed over section was not completed with enough resin to make it water tight. So any water that gets into the bilge makes it's way to the hollow keel. I found this when replacing the forward stringers and stepped on this and it cracked and I seen water. I did have a smell from this area and rather than try to seal it all the way from bow to stern I just opened up the area that I stepped on and pumped it out. (No more smell) I have also hear of putting foam into that area but it would need to be closed cell and you would have to have access to insure the whole thing was foamed in.

traffic master flooring

Post by captainrob1985 »

hi all
I am replacing the rotten decks of my boat with marine grade plywood (5/8) that i am coating with waterproofer, for that little bit of extra protection. then I am going to screw it down with stainless screws and then epoxy over the screws.(to fill in the holes) and put that 3M 4200 sealant around the edges to hold it to the fiberglass and help prevent water from getting down to the engines. then on top i am going to lay traffic master flooring (home depot) although it has adhesive on it i am going to use 4200 sealant on each piece to insure it dosen`t come apart (apparently it does when winter comes but i am going to call the manufacturer to confirm this). and then seal it around the edges and seal all the seams there with a grit clearcoat. Now this is my first time doing this does this sound like a good procedure? thank you for your time all

as well the grit clearcoat is intended for concrete do u know if it will stick to laminate?
