hard top

Post by mattjg24 »

I'm new to this forum and thought I would write a post.I have a 1973 F-25.Very nice solid boat.Along with the boat I received the original service manuals, wiring diagrams etc.My current dilema is soft top or hard top.I would like a hard top,as I plan to fish in the winter.I plan to build the hardtop, but not sure what material to use.Any ideas?

I don't endorse this in anyway but I thought it was interesting and might give you some ideas. See link below.

Something to consider... Do you plan on standing on the hard top or is it just for an enclosure proposes? Also, you might want to check out a local boat salvage yard or craigslist. I've seen in the past people getting rid of hard tops on craigslist. I would much rather try to modify an existing hardtop to fit my boat than to start from scratch.

Good luck.

I was pleased to see another F25 owner on this forum. I have a 1980 F25 hardtop.

But I don't have any manuals pertaining to an F25. I was able to get some help from a F26 owner, but it sure would be great getting them for the F25.
Is there any way you could copy the manual and wiring diagrams and e mail them to me? I sure would be greatful!

If it would help you, I could take some pic's of my hardtop and e mail them to you.

Thanks,,Larry

Chucka changed his F-26 from soft to hardtop and it came out really nice, here's a link to his thread, has some really good photos. Hope it helps,
Matt

You can use http://CrazedList.org to search ALL (not recommended) or a subset (your state perhaps) http://Craigslist.Org databases for something. Very handy.

Don't use "ALL", or it will run for at least 5 minutes, and tie up your PC.

I'm not sure about that bayliner, that was a lot of work. I don't know how much you want to spend but there are a lot of F-25's sitting around for cheap money, I know of one you can buy for 1,500. remove the hard top and sell the boat for a 1,000. You would get a factory hardtop for around 500 bucks

they did a nice job on that bayliner, but boy is it ugly ! heh. Another handy craigslist idea:

to go google

type:
"craigslist: trojan f36" or whatever you are searching for and a bunch of links will pop up usually. alot easier and faster then using crazed list.

Having no info at all for the F25, I'll take as much info as your willing to send.
I would be most greatful.

If you want me to e mail pic's of the hardtop I have on my F25, I would be happy to do so.

Thanks very much.

hartop

Larry
I'll send all that I have on the F-25 and let you sift through it.90% of it is useful, the other 10% is just kinda neat.Apparently the original owner worked for Trojan, and he kept alot of service updates as well. The boat was purchased by us for $2000.,2 years ago and it had been neglected for some time.In the last year another $4000.has been put into it,along with many hours of hard work.We live in Everett,Wa.and live close to the marina,so we take it out quite often.Mechanicaly, every thing is new and works well. Now we're just putting in a few creature comforts.Any,pi9cs of your hartop would be great.Again Thanks to all for your input

mattjg24,
You have some Beautiful boating up where you are at. I spent quite a bit of time in Yelm, Wa and use to go to Everett once in a while.

Got to go to VA today to get hearing checked, but tomorrow will get to the boat and take a lot of pic's of the hardtop to send to you. I guess I'll need your e mail address?
