IMHO, if the outside has been that neglected, what does that say about the rest of the systems. You would better off looking around more as it is a buyers market. If I am not mistaken someone just sold their extra clean f 30 for a really great price.

i have a f30 and that cabin looks identical to mine. it will sleep four people comfortably and 6 if your cozy. never heard of a f30 with a single! that would be a pain in the a** to dock. the beam is 11'6" so trailering and launching isn't a real big issue. looks like a big project! good luck!

You don't see many F30s with a single for sure . but there out there . I had a F30 clean machine with twins reel nice boat , But I would Have like it more if it was a single , I was thinking about repowering with diesel if it was a single , I am sure I would have. If I ever find one (clean machine ) with a single I just may do that .

That was I was thinking, repower with a yanmar or something efficient. What is the difference between the f30 and the "Clean Machine"?

Both are F30's they share the same hull and insides But the clean machine has no lower helm . its fly bridge only . but the bridge is not as high as the fly bridge is on the reg. F30 and its forward giving more deck space .
heres one

I had looked into installing a diesel when I did my repower in 02. It was a 240HP Yanmar 4 cyl, came with harness and all gauges. Everything complete, wiring, fuel tank, and reworking the shaft log as it required a 17" prop, and my estimate was 25K. (The engine and transmission was a little of 18K.) This was from a reputable yard that specialized in gas to diesel conversions. Now, I do like my F-26 alot and plan on keeping her, but I just couldn't justify the cost. I installed a brand new gas crusader engine, gauges and wiring for 1/3 the cost and can't be happier with it

And I doubt you would ever have recouped the added cost thru fuel mileage savings.

There is a lot more to Diesels then just the fuel savings . but it is nice to run faster and burn half the fuel . But there is more to it , the safety the reliability . And things you can't understand until you own one . Ask Rossjo , RWS an JAV.

You're both right, it wouldn't make sense which is why I stuck with gas. I burn just under 8gal an hour at cruise now, so I wouldn't be saving too much on fuel. I average between 50-75hrs a season. I could probably do another repower and still be ahead.

I think I am leaning toward something like a semi- displacement hull. Something that could cruise at about 15knots - top end around 20knts. I think the trojan hull is a planning hull and may not be really efficient at 15 knots? Is this true? Does anyone have any experience with this? How efficient is an f30 cruising at 15 knts? IS the boat semi planning or is it bogged down in the back?

I wonder what would happen if you put a single 200 hp diesel in an f30? Would perform like like a fast trawler- getting good fuel economy at about 15 knts?

an f30 is not a trawler no matter what power you put in it

drop an old mechanical cummins N14 in it! it will either sink, or fly like the wind! diesel would be the way to go in a boat. thats what they were built for, moving heavy things!
