Scentry Gas Vapor Monitor

Post by Jersdevil »

Anyone know anything about the Scentry Gas Vapor monitor? We have one mounted in the helm console. The power switch is rusted and I do not know if it works or not. Any insight would be appreciated.

can you turn the knob to "test" at all? if so, let it run it's self test.

i have a scentry unit as well. the one i have works (according to the self test thingie), and i have another unit identical to it in storeage in the salon...have no clue if it's a spare or if it's bad.

i've tried to find these units online, but with no joy.

if you find a source, share the love. :)

did it use to work? can you verify the power to the unit and it wont turn on. are you somewhat handy and maybe just replace the switch? if not it might be time to replace it. with a new gas monitor. i couldnt find info on it either maybe a model or something? if it doesnt get power try tracing the wires back.if you do get it turned on i would find the sensor where ever it is and at least put a small amount of gas on a rag just in front of it and verify that it will pick up the fumes and alarm. i would not solely rely on a self test if you have no knowledge that this thing will pick up gas vapors and alarm. many times a self test on equipment will verify that its connected and alarm or light will work and that all. the first thing i did with mine was to verify with an actual alarm condtion that it will alarm. this is a very important thing to have on a gas boat and it should be one of the things you know will work, not just hope so.
heres what i am using the sa-10xl

If anyone has any of the AS-CO200 sensor assembly's they would like to get rid of please let me know. Mine always worked before, but this year if doesn't. The company is now part of Rule Industery and they don't have them anymore. Thanks
I have a 28 ft Trojan docked on Catawba Island in Onio. Would like to hear from other Trojan owners in the area.

I have one of the old Scentry units too...

Would you rely on a 30 year old TV to watch the Superbowl? Probably not.

Why trust your life on a 30 year old gizmo?? Either turn it off, or install something made in the last 5 years.
