My move to Georgian Bay

Post by jimbo36 »

Greetings to all my Trojan friends. As some of you know I have been the Harbour Master for the City of Belleville, Ontario, for the past few years. I would like to inform you all that I have recently taken the General Manangement position of Bay Moorings Resort Marina in Southern Georgian Bay at Penetanguishene, Ontario. http://www.baymoorings.com

If you are planning a cruise next summer of Georgian Bay or the North Channel, Southern Georgian Bay is awesome. And so is Bay Moorings Marina :)

Perhaps a Trojan Rendezvous? Jimbo36.

Goodluck with the new job. I love Georgian Bay. I used to go to Alberet College in Bellville. My roomate's Partents had a boat on Georgian bay. Wish I had enough vacation time to bring my boat up there.

Congrats Jimbo and best of luck in your new endeavor. I love the North Channel and Georgian Bay and was there every summer when I was docked in Lake Huron. Our yearly trips to the pristine beauty of that area is one of the major reasons we are moving back to Huron next spring. Hopefully we'll get a chance to stop in and say "Eh".

I have no knowledge of the area but what little I have heard about or seen looks great. There is a guy I don't like much on another site who wrote a travel guide about the area he seems to have a lot of knowledge about the area he may be a source of info if you need. The is no real reason I don't like him just don't see eye to eye on a few topics. He is a fellow boater and seems willing to be helpful whenever he can.

Here is a link to his book he gives contact info on the site and he is active on the BoatUs forum site. I know he means well but I still bust his balls.
Best of luck on your new endeavor.

Jimbo, welcome to the neighbourhood. I'm a little further down the harbour ( less than a mile ) and on the other side. Straight aross from the Town Dock at Hindsons Marina. Been here 15 seasons so I guess you could say I enjoy it up here. Boated in Lake Erie for 4 years but unfortunity it doesn't hold a candle to Georgian Bay. You'll enjoy it here. Being the GM are you gonna see much "prop time?"

Thank you all for your well wishes. Peter, livin' the dream is right. :) TC, I know exactly where you are at. My employer is Parkbridge who, as you probably know, own Beacon Bay, beside you and Bay Port in Midland. As for "prop time", this year our company powerboat rendezvous is a trip to Killarney. I am fortunate to have a well experience staff now in place. I will be living on site with my Trojan within steps. Hopefully I will see more boating than I did in Belleville. In younger years, I cruised the area quite a bit. My wife and I have visited friends who dock at Bay Port as well, so it is kind of like coming home.

Bay Moorings has hosted a very successful "American Great Loop Cruisers Association" Rendezvous, over the years, and will again this summer. I can't help but think we could organize a great Trojan get together as well. Anyone interested? Jimbo36
