OIL I N WATER
went to change the oil today. bad news, Pt. side came out milky. Where do I start to look for the water leak?
1995Crusader 454XL full fresh water cooled 525hrs. Salt water last eight years, before that up in the Great Lakes. As far as I can tell, orginal manifolds, risers, U-cooler.

Maybe oil cooler? Pressure test is easy.

Saw it happen on a PCM 454 last year . Also saw a V drive implode on a Carver (no offense Tony) from bad trans cooler in '09

Are you sure your manifolds are fw cooler and not raw water ? Where the raw water enter to cool the exhaust ?

well one thing for sure if the risers are original they owe you nothing, and need to be replaced from age. Better safe than sorry. Then do and oil change and run her at temp for a while checking for water getting back in.

Yes - and he said "Oil in Water", not "Water In Oil" - so that may be what he meant.Jerry wrote:From my experience with bad oil coolers, the oil leaks out into the water, not water leaking into the engine oil.
The engine oil normally is at a much higher pressure thus leaking into the water.
