Hello all,

I have thought of many names for our boat, and had planned on using one until lately. Although we have never actually placed a name on the boat, we soon will be doing so now.
I ordered the name "Lady G" for the boat from "Iboats.com" shortly ago.

I have about a 20" section of rub rail missing from the port bow, and cannot find a replacement piece of rub rail to put there. I sure can't afford to replace it all.

To fix this problem, I plan to remove a section of the rub rail that will fit that space, from the center of the stern and to fill the empty space left there on the bow, I will make a wood plaque large enough to hold the name of our boat and affix it there, then placing the name on the plaque.

Sounds crazy, I guess, but this the only thing I could think of. I don't like having the gap in the rub rail, it just doesn't look good.

So, the official name is; Lady G

Don't want to nix your selection but lore says you should not reviel the name of the boat until the day your complete the naming cerimony.

Old wives tails i'm sure. hehe.. Sounds good though.

If you're buying graphics check with your local sign shop. They're usually cheaper (no shipping for sure), have the same gear (not all), need the business, will often times come by and install it for you for free and you'll help a neighbor!

Buy locally - buy American - your neighbors need the business.

The install it part being very very important. It's easy to screw it up and then you are left with buying another.

My Sunday school teacher made mine and installed it too. I asked him to name it the "Booze Croozer", but got Foofer B in stead. Go figure!

Ross, I agree with the local thing. I have found though that not all vinyls are alike and usually the local sign shop doesn`t have the stuff that should be used on boats. The first polish job will reveal just how good the vinyl really is. The good stuff can be polished, the not so good stuff; don`t even get close with the polisher!

Yes, you must inquire and make sure your local sign shop has the correct material. However, I would never recommend polishing heavily (buffing) any vinyl lettering.

WalMart has ruined the country with cheap (to them - not cheap to us anymore) Chinese crap.

I'd rather ride in a SeaRay than shop at WalMart!

X2 what rossjo said. Local shops are pros and usually install for free and do it with pride. Don't get me started on walmart.

Bought a bit brace (large, hi-torque hand drill for auger bits) to drill some 14" deep x 5/8" holes in my dock posts yesterday. Had to go to 8 hardware stores, and finally found one at an Ace on the other side of town (great little store - they carry everything) - $33!

Long story short - the thing blew up within 5 minutes - completely ate the chuck out, and the square bore inside where the drill seats, before I had gone 8 inches. Cheap Chinese junk!

Here it is - even painted red!

Will try to return it today - if they won't take it back, I'll weld my auger bit into the chuck and use it. Had to drill my holes with 2 Vice Grips on the drill bit. Fun.

Absolutely. Can't buy good hand tools as this Chinese junk has taken over.

The problem is its hard to find made in the USA stuff some times . They hide where it is made . Should be a law that the place its made is in big print on all sides .
