Does this sound strange to anyone else???
Mechanic took both Holley Carbs off my Pleasure Craft 454 Big Blocks a month ago. Now he say`s he can't figure out what type of re-build kit to order because the model and part numbers are XXXXX out by PCM at the factory???? I`m no marine mechanic but...And it`s a big but too...Even though the marine and auto carbs are different shouldn't I be able to at least match them up at the auto parts house by size or some other way? Something don't sound right here. I`m not looking at them but I`d say 600cfm or 650cfm probably.
Thanks, Rick - F-36 / MissKitty

BUT yes is think so the biggest difference should be the float over flow tubes.

That's a good ideal and carquest also can match up marine parts.

Take a look at the carb; on the front of the air horn (where the air flows into the carb) Holly inprints a "list" number it's usually four digits. You should referance this number when ordering a kit or google holly carb identification and get the cross over chart.
The list number is the key to Holly carbs and there is no reason for a manufacture to "X" them out.
Hopefully that helps.

Re: Holley Carbs.
I have sent the holly 650 and 750 double pumpers off my ss and the duster and no probs with the rebuilds or parts, and these are 25 year old carbs, if you need I can hook you up with some real rebuilders. If in doubt look up machine shops in your area, ones that deal with engines, performance ectrap55 wrote:Does this sound strange to anyone else???

1976 Trojan 360 Flybridge needin a whole lotta luvin!
Carbs
Talked to the fellow who installed the motors before I bought her. Good guy named Reid who owns Coastal Marine there in Deltaville VA. He said he had run into that problem before with PCM crate motors. Part numbers which had been obscured for some reason or another. Any way...He put me on JEG`s web-site and a part number and said to get Holley Trick Kits. By the time I got back with the mechanic he said he was on it. All I could say was just do-it man do-it !!! Gitt-er Done!!!
