Used, working Garmin 180 GPS wanted

Post by gruhs »

If you have this model Garmin GPS you would like to sell. All I need is the unit itself, mine quit working.

Gary -

I think I have one onboard SeaDog. I know I have two backup units that used to be primary units and not sure the exact model number till I look at it. I will check Friday when I get there and let you know.

Is the 180 the only one you will consider?

Garmin 180 wanted

Post by gruhs »

The reason I prefered the 180 is because I can plug it right in. Other Garmin might do the same but I don't know which ones.

Thanks for checking,
Gary

Most of the smaller Garmin units use the same power and antenna connector. Do you have charting cartography to load onto it?

The old one that I have has the lake michigan chip (or what ever it's called) that I hope will plug into what ever I end up getting... that's another reason to stay with the same model then everything just plugs in and were good to go.

For what it's worth, that old Garmin uses a g chart/micro g chart which you can't get anymore and there is no support for it. The connections and antenna system are completely different than what Garmin has had out for the past 10 years or more. Plus you can't download newer version of charts.

Look on CL or check with some boating forums for a clean used one or upgrade to another newer model if you can.

Good luck.

garmin wanted...

Thanks for the info and offers to fix us up with a replacement GPS. We think we have a reasonable deal on a model 182C in progress. If all goes well it will be nice to have a color screen.

Thanks,
Gary
