Plugging old through hulls

Post by larryeddington »

I have two old depth sensors mounted mid ship on either side of keel that need to go. Does anyone know of a device that would in effect plug the hole with a device that could be inserted, sealed and a bolt, stud or multiples that could be put in its place without resorting to fiberglass work?

You could use one for a raw water wash down ( install a Thu hull ) could add a second sounder to the other other wise glass it or leave the old transducers in ,

airmar sells something for this purpose. I had three old holes to fill, had two glassed and used their insert for the 3rd.

It's basically flush on the bottom and has a removable plug like their paddlewheel inserts inside the hull.

I'll probably never use it for anything but you never know.

Larry,

Sorry, didn't see your reply. Give them a call, that's what I did. I think you have to order from what of there distributors. I know I have the receipt, let me see if I can dig it up for a part #.

Thanks Guys, I was looking for an option. I may do as Paul suggestes use one for a new senser and the other for AC condenser water pickup, obviously with a sea cock as well. I have to make a third one for the Genny father astern.

Paul, yes it's the same plug as the speedsensor but it fits into a thru hull fiiting that's flush on the hull side.

It's made out of the same plastic as the speed sensor plug so no no corrosion or bonding issues. Mine will likely be permanent.
