That's a good theory but from what I've seen the LA's ( live aboards ) end up thinkin' they own the place..that's why the place I'm at now has lost 7 boats so far this month, and lost 3 others over the season all weekender's and power boats ( the ones that spend money on parts and gas ) the marina will go back to being full of rag-baggers (sail boaters) and boats from the brokers, neither make the place any money.... and 3 of the LA's work in the store and see it as their place to BS and and work on stuff ...it's the owners fault but I see it as bad biz...

Most Our live aboard are nice and live on some very nice boats ($$$$), but you get some that are one step above a card board box . ( thinking of one in 20 foot or Less sail boat we had ).

It helps stop crime in the marina

we have a couple like that too last winter, living on a little day sail'r and had blue tarps all over it portable heaters and stove ect....still had it rigged like that up to Irene....and as far as crime goes. We had stuff miss from boats this past yr. guess what it stopped when a LA started south. So that cuts both ways..

White rock marina in rock creek had a few live aboards and crime was very low. Infact they would question strangers. alot the live aboards moved to oak harbor when white rock went to a new owner that was 12 or so yrs ago about the same time I moved my boat wasnt a live aboard just didnt like the way the marina was going.

Ive been living on boats for going on 3 years now and i honestly love it... i started out on a 34ft Silverton and now i live on my F36 Tricabin which to honestly say isnt much considering i pay $280 in rent every month for my own place. Up untill two weeks ago my Girlfriend actually lived with me for about a year untill we finally broke up (and no it wasnt beacuse of the boat) and honestly it wasnt that bad, central ac, heat pump toilet and shower is all you really need honestly, works great for me, however on that note i honestly dont understand how some people live on boats below the 25ft line... we have several at my marina and i just dont think i could personally do that.
