Where is hot water heater on an F31 (or F30/F32) ?

Post by rojayva »

Any F31 owners out there, where is your hot water heater located? Can you send me a photo? Also, F30 and F32 owners, maybe Trojan put them in about the same spot.
A previous owner removed mine. Under the dinette bench nearest the head, he put two five gal buckets which my head pumps into.
I want to put a different holding tank setup in the boat and put a hot water heater back in. Any advice on either the holding tank or hot water heater?
Thanks in advance,
Rojayva

Five gallon buckets for holding tank. Nice....

Ok, that makes sense. He probably just pulled the water heater and put the 'portable sewage storage system' (read 2 five-gallon buckets) in there.
Now I'll have to figure out how and where to install a holding tank. I think these boats originally came with just an overboard discharge.

On my 1972 30' Sea Raider the 6 gallon water heater is in the engine room centered between the engines and about 2 feet behind them. Right in front of two 50 gallon fuel tanks............John

Should be able to fit about a 30 gal waste tank under the port side v-berth. Obviously the proper shape tank will help you maximize the useful available space. Easy place to plumb the head discharge line and a deck plate for pumpout as well.

5 gallon buckets? o man, My 73 F32 had, still has a head that pumps right out below the water line, my 79 had a head with a large tank under it visible at all times, and macerator that pumped below the waterline and pump out fitting in the deck that was plumbed in through the port closet in the forward berth, my 74 which I have now has a jabsco electric flush head that sucks water from somewhere below the water line, macerates and send to a holding tank in the forward berth that has a T that goes to a pump out fitting or another macerator that pumps out the starboard side about the waterline, onlu problem my port draws in the forward berth only close half way :-/

Those 5 gal buckets would make for interesting times in stormy weather.
