SPEARFISHING NEAR PANAMA CITY JETTY

Post by foofer b »

It was too rough all weekend to take the boat offshore, so we did a shore dive last Saturday. The grouper was delicious last night!

Nice Roy.

We usually spend a few days there over Christmas with family. Love the area.

What are the water temps now?

F 26 handling offshore

Post by rspecops »

Foofer I hear you may run an F 26 out in the gulf. I am looking at an F26 for fishing out of Destin. Been going out of Destin for many years in standard 25 footers or so with o/b's. I never go out in anything "predicted" over 2 to 3 footers anyway. Too many better days. I would appreciate your thoughts.

Rspecops,

I love my F26, and have fished, dived and overnighted on her for three years now. She has a large, usable back deck. The gunwhales (?) are high enuff to comfortably lean on when fishing, and she has plenty of freeboard for rough seas. I have been out in 3-5 footers and was not concerned for my safety, and she handled well, but it was not a lot of fun. I regularly take four guys diving offshore here in Jacksonville as I live in Orange Park, just south of Jax. We have to head out 12-20 miles to get in 70-90 feet and any kinda decent visibility, so I love it every fall when I trailer her to Fort Walton and berth her at my Dad's house on the bayou in Shalimar. This fall we dove/fished the bridge rubble, Miss Louise, the Air Force Barge and the Liberty ship among others.

I just got in from trailering her back to O.P., and my wife is unloading the truck by herself! so I had better go. Let me know any other input I might give you.

Also, my wife agreed this weekend that I could get a bigger boat if I sold this one, so if you are in the market let me know .

F 26

foofer, sent you an email before I read your other reply. Sorry for the assumption you lived in panama city. Anyway thanks a million again for the great reply. I believe I am definitely gonna get this f 26 now. Your boats cabin looks awesome. I am very excited about getting the f 26 and inspired to make over the cabin as well as yours. Thanks for the heads up on your boat for sale but I am gonna stick with this one. It is the flybridge model.

oh yeah, you will love the flybridge, esp. over there. Only reservation I have about it is the ladder to the bridge eats up lots of prime deck space. Oh and the several hundred extra pounds that high up- the pendelum effect.
