Your opinions, what IS this boat? Year/length/hull?
http://www.yachtworld.com/boats/1973/Tr ... ted-States
We've been watching this boat for awhile now, and noticed another thread here with many differing opinions. Broker has it listed as a wood hull, 1973, 47'. I'm not convinced.... it looks much bigger, and does not look wood to me. Another poster stated that it IS fiberglass, but I don't see how a broker could make such a big mistake.
I'm just not finding anything on a 1973 wooden hull 47' Trojan, so it seems that something about it isn't correct. Your thoughts?
We have a 36' 1974 Tri Cabin now, looking for a liveaboard with a bit more room.
Thanks!

Definetly not an F series...nice looking though.
This is the very reason why I wish Bob or Don would participate from time to time in our discussions. They should know... and could solve some of life's mysteries!

Looks sumthin like this rite?
I believe the Hilton moniker was a marketing ploy suggesting accomodations similar to those found in the successful hotel chain. I wonder if they had to pay a fee to use that name.

I e-mailed the Yacht Broker asking if it was wood hull or fiberglass
He said it was a wooden hull but the paperwork has F-47 on it
Seems to me, after all the discussions here that somewhere along the road, somebody screwed up the paperwork.

the advert added hilton to convey luxury accomodations, as a play on words. the boat is just a trojan. there was never a 'trojan hilton' motor yacht. just a trojan motor yacht.upstatedon wrote:I'm thinking it may be a Trojan Hilton 50, largest wooden boat they made.
Still researching....

I was inclined to agree with you Aaron, but had to edit my post after reading the fine print in the 1971 ad. It seems indeed they called it the Trojan Hilton , and not just as an advertizing ploy aimed at drawing a correlary to the hotel chain, but as a semi-official model name. In my world its still a 47, 50, or 53 Motor Yacht, but apparantly at least the 50 was indeed called the Trojan Hilton, and not just in the marketing realm.aaronbocknek wrote:the advert added hilton to convey luxury accomodations, as a play on words. the boat is just a trojan. there was never a 'trojan hilton' motor yacht. just a trojan motor yacht.upstatedon wrote:I'm thinking it may be a Trojan Hilton 50, largest wooden boat they made.
