Paint stripper

Hello all,

Were stripping paint around the boat and wanted to point out that aircraft paint stripper is by FAR the best product we have found to strip paint.

The brand we are using works great. It is thick enough to use on vertical surfaces and makes the paint fall off...really!

Cleans up with water will not burn or ignite due to vapors.

Just sharing....

I am using Klean Strip brand
They have a full line of products.
I get mine at the local O Reilly's.
Really good stuff and less expensive than more well know brands.

I used that on my dinghy's bottom paint and it softened up even the hardest thirty year old paint.

Hello all,
One thing I will say is that this stuff is not easy on gelcoat.
Please be cautious and keep a nice wet rag around to wipe off any excess stripper that gets in contact with your gelcoat.

Did you use this on bottom paint ? Don't want to pay for sodablasting if this works.

Lake Norman. Soda blasting will do it for $35 per foot and do an awesome job.
Look him up on the web...it is worth the call for a quote.
Ron Bergman is his name.

The paint stripper is not cheap..$12 or so a quart.

Soda blasting is the way to go. Took three coats of paint stripper and much putty knifing to get to the "sand away the rest of the paint stained gelcoat" stage.
