F-32 cabin refit

I am doing a small refit on the boat and I thought I'd share and maybe get some input from the other members who might have some good ideas.

First, I never liked the sofa in the salon, I can never open both hatches up at the same time, or open the port hatch in any sort of hurry. So I designed and currently putting together a built in settee. It will be bolted down and will have a hatch that allows the engine hatch to open. I think the only thing that will have to be moved are the cushions. I have never done anything like this before but I think it will work. Second, I will be putting down teak and holly decking on both decks, replacing any damaged teak trim, and replacing the table, and maybe the countertop. Third, replacing all the cushions inside, and I have no idea with what, but I think I have some time. Here are some photos of what I have done so far and so far I'm at around $300 for the settee-

Looking good Doug. I think the flooring is going to add a really nice touch; it'll look like a different boat.

I always though some sort of couch that simply folded up and latched to the port wall of the saloon would be good.

Thanks for all the remarks. I can't wait to get it on the boat just to see if it will have the right look or it was a big waste of time. The one thing I was going for (and hoping for) is a "factory" look.

Yes, it's a 81 inch .46 nitro. I really don't fly it as much as I used to but I was thinks of bolting floats on it and flying it off the water.

That looks great. A lot of thought and work went into the design and build. What kind of wood is used for the faces of the sette?

It is 1/2" mahogany plywood. The trim is teak and the seat and back is a kind of marine ply with a cover over it, I forget what is was called. One 4x8 sheet of each.

Doug, two comments here.
One, great idea with that couch issue, they are most clumbersome to get behind and yes to the port engine as well. And two, I have a 65" Great Planes Cub with an OS .46 ( somes times too much power is just enough )and it flies great with floats.

I'm happy you went with teak and mahogany. Too many times I see boat refits and they change over to oak or some other form of wood. I'm going a long way to get teak and mahogany only to redo my cabin, and it's not that easy to find for decent pricing.

Post up some photos when you get it back in the boat and squared away.

Have you chosen the fabric yet?

Very, very nice. I've been contemplating a built-in bench sofa for years, but hadn't gotten the gumption to do it yet. Your looks fantastic!
