The past couple of weekends I have been replacing the bow pulpit teak plywood. Mine had delaminated and was falling apart. I made a pattern of the recess and drafted a drawing to have my local plastics guy make me one out of Starboard. I didn’t take any pictures of the before, but here are some of the after. I also reinstalled the two portlights that had missing/broken locking clips. At the same time I redid all of the insect screens. Most of it went pretty smooth. I am in a marina on the Intercoastal Water Way in Palm Bay, FL., the depth of the water is about 4 feet. The only mishap was, I had a 6 foot step ladder in the water next to the boat so I could resilicone the outside out the portlights after being reinstalled. Well a boat went by in the channel fairly fast and created a pretty large wake. I saw the waves coming but could not get up on the boat fast enough. The waves hit the ladder knock it over and sent me in to the water. It being only 4 feet deep nothing happened, I just stood up, had to fish the ladder off of the bottom. The water was warm probably 75-78 degrees. Reset the ladder climbed back up and finished with the silicone. Was not all bad, the wife felt sorry for me so by the time I got back up on the boat she had a cocktail waiting. Sitting on the boat, sunny and 85 degrees, able to hear a live band playing good rock and roll at the marina bar, cocktail in hand……..priceless.
If anybody would like a copy of the drawing please let me know. I would recommend printing it off full size, making a cardboard pattern and verifying the fit. Your holes may or may not match up with mine.
