Anyone ever use MarinAire?

Thinking of getting this 6k unit for the aft stateroom in the tri-cabin. Replacing the in wall electric heater with this, using that same hole in the bulkhead for the return. Actually thinking of mounting this above the access hatch between the bunks.

11" deep x 10" high, this thing is SMALL.

My other 16k unite is under the salon sofa and is a Marine Air unit, older. Never heard of this company though. Prices are not bad, units look like good quality and have 5yr warrantee.

I installed one last year and love it. It was easy to install, well documented, and works great. I really like that it is a reverse-cycle heater also and has a remote control. It also has built-in gauges for the high pressure and low pressure side. It has digital controls and an easy to understand error code message system. If I can install it anyone can.

I highly recommend it.

i have also been looking at small mairne ac units, however i believe you are mistaken on the warranty info, unless i missed it somewhere the warranty is only 1 year

the longest warranty i have found is through mermaid which is a 5 year warranty, they are also on sale at the present time. they will accept any thermostat that is 4 wire including their digital and the fx1 control. not just the company manufactured thermostat. i will be getting this for myself. using a programmable themostat you can have the a/c turn on example: say friday before you get to the boat and cool things off before you get there without having to run it all week to get the same convience.

One update on Mermaid as I had prevviously posted how "loud" they are. It's still true but the on/off "jolt" comes from inside the control box, not the unit itself.

If you get one, there are a few options:

1) mount the control box hidden somewhere to isolate the noise. I mounted mine inside the main plenum so the noise comes right back through the vents

2) Insulate the box with sound deadening material which I have done. This makes a huge difference

3) Upgrade the thermostat to the FX which uses an entirely different controller and has no moving parts
