Finished compounding the hull. Garboard plugs back in. Batteries tended and reconnected. Engines and gen set ready to go.

It goes in early tomorrow morning. Heres to the first gas bill of the season! :D

10 April. Same date as last year?

Either way, this old girl is starting to see some long seasons and a lot of hours in her old age.

First ride went great Aaron. Thanks. She fired right up after the extended nap.

Couldn't get the Onan to pump though. Opened up the water pump housing and found the answer. The impeller was so worn it was not only swollen and had taken a hard set, but had spun free the bearing from the hub, and the input shaft was just spinning the bearing inside the hub. No worries though. Impeller and gasket kit on the way. I'll just have to live off the inverter if I decide to go out in the next few days.

I'll post some pics later. I saw quite a few other Trojans today. An 80's F-36 Conv. with a custom tube arch, A 10m (or 11m its hard for me to tell) express, another F-32 in my vintage (mines nicer ;) ), and an F 308 the same year as mine.

Now I gotta go get the boat stuff loaded onto her. I was chagrined to find that I hadn't left any booze aboard over the winter.

ahhhh that infamous onan impeller and pump. mind did the exact same thing the first week i had her. spun that sucker right off. actually, the pulley set screw vanished and the assembly moved to where it just created a nasty scene. john, my mechanic, simply dug around his 'parts department' and produced a gently used replacement pump. he even had the correct impeller!! he said i had to reinstall it though as he wanted me to earn my keep. i could hardly refuse the offer.
and you left the 'adult beverages' off the boat? and you went out with narry (sp?) a beer? ahhhhh the outrage!!! i'm sure in due time you will have the galley resupplied.

Well It got kinda smoky in there. I said it was Mystery Oil, but others said "cut your hair hippy". :)

So yeh. My pretty 32 is back on the water. I so friggin' lucked out. John and Nancy H should be TBOY '14.

Heres the proper color factory power. This is the Stbd. The one that has a long time documented history of issues. Basically whats wrong with it is that its a 305 Chevvy with flat tappets, a Rochester and old skewl ignition. If ya give it 'The Fonz' it generally runs good. (i.e. kick it and it purrs ;) )

Then ya have the ornery old Spec J Onan. This thing was hitting the sales floor when I was in 5th grade. Pump and spindle still in good shape though.

She still looks good after all of these years. If I can have a good season this year I will fix those awful colors next spring.

Mystery Oil - LOL! Some things transport easier than others.

Glad she's running well except for that damn generator. Oh well - impeller - you're probably asking yourself why the hell you didn't change it last year when when you were fixing what I now forget was causing it not to run at all. Honestly, after the impeller, I don't think there's anything left to go wrong with it.

She does look pretty sitting at the dock even if you do hate the green.

Its not that I hate the green, just not a huge fan. I would like it less if it was brown. Eventually I will go back to factory colors if I should have it so long. That means having the bottom blasted and painted and the stripes changed. Also, having a bunch of canvas made when there is really nothing wrong with the green canvas thats on it. So lots of things will come first.

It was the fuel pump I replaced on the Onan last year. You are right. I should have at least opened up the housing and looked in there, but honestly with the way you guys kept on top of stuff and they way it was pumping last year, I didn't think to look in there until this spring when she would no longer pump. Oh well. No biggie. It will be ready to go when the part gets here. Just no cooking on the range at anchor until then. Its ok. I have a 3 burner white gas stove for those situations. It fits perfect on top of that cabinet that goes under the bridge stairs. I just pull it out, do my cooking, and put it back. :)
