need to find new volt meter for international panel

Post by yorklyn »

Need to replace my volt meter on my interior panel for my shore power # 2. I bought a blue seas volt meter a year ago and just found out it needs a large round cutout for the back to recess into (like a round dash gauge would). the face is a rectangle. the originals have a small rectangle on the back (sorry no pics yet) . Was curious if anyone has ever found a suitable replacement for one? I really dont want to hack a larger hole in the aluminum panel if I can track down the correct one.
Thanks

Todd,

Mine were from Radio Shack, I just replaced one last week because the face was cracked. I found a new one eBay. That's way more information that you needed but I don't think the openings were changed if you want to go that route. I have wondered if it came from the factory with these. Maybe a case of running out and someone from the factory making a parts run.

I'll try radio shack tomorrow. I really didnt want to cut anything so that should work just fine in the cabin. Thanks once again Bob!

Todd, does your panel currently have ammeters also?

Hold on before you jump in the car....I don't think they carry them anymore. I found a new in the box one for $20. Do a search for 22-412. There are a couple on eBay now. My panel is still open if you want me to confirm the cut out dimensions.

Don't know how similar our panels are but I replaced the voltmeters on my 11 meter several years ago. I have owned a Radio Shack for nearly 30 years but I went somewhere else for the meters. I looked this weekend and could not come up with the purchase information. My suggestion would be to look at www.hoytmeter.com. They have analog voltage meters and a seriously cool digital meter I installed for the genset. It shows voltage output, frequency and amps being consumed.

This is why I asked Todd if he had ammeters. I would take this oportunity to convert to digital. They can do so much more.

I would take the opportunity to convert to didgital and get more functionality in the same footprint; volts, amps, frequency.

I was tired of tapping on my analog meters for results.

Here are the photos of my conversion to digital last year instead of the more costly analog.

Todd,

I just found the link.

They were about $12.00 each but came from overseas, so it took about 2 weeks.

Here's the link:
