New owner of 12 Meter, hast the Detroit JT 450 hp engines in it. Awesome layout, very excited. I also had a F 32 for 7 years that I had repowered with Ford Lehman Diesels, and went everywhere at 2 gallons per hour.

The 12 Meter is an extended 11 Meter (14' beam)rossjo wrote:A little confused on the models.
I see 10, 10.8, 11 and 12 meters in Express, Convertible, Sedan and Motor Yacht.
I assume Sedan and Convertible are the same What I'm interested in).
So, is there truly a 10, 10.8, 11 and 12 meter? Or is the 10.8 actually the 11? (or is the 10.8 the 10?)
The 14 Meter is an extended 13 Meter (16' beam)
The 10.8 Meter CONVERTIBLE is an extended 10 Meter
(13' beam)
The only difference is the 10.8 Meter Express is not an extended 10 Meter Express. It is a completely different design, hull, and manufacturing done by Trojan before it went Belly up. This design was picked up and modified by Carver in their "Trojan" 370, 390, and 400.
Trojan had plans to produce a "new" 10.8 Meter Convertible based on the new design until they went out of business.
If I had a choice I would have a 12 Meter with Detroit's or a 10.8 Meter Express with some lightweight diesels.

Great info Todd . explains a lot!
My 2014 boating season has been curtailed with a popped ACL, torn MCL and torn miniscus in my left knee. Had surgery Wednesday and it hurts like hell still. No more dirt bikes (or skiing) for me ever again ..
Do you think you could live on a 12M Convertible for 2 months with your wife and 45lb dog?
I also need 30-36" draft to keep here at my dock the other 10 months.

Absolutely. People live in their RV's for months. No difference. Of course u have to go in understanding that no boat (unless you have a mega yacht and maintenance crew) will ever feel like your house. We take a lot for granted in a home compared to a boat. It also helps to have family members that understand that concept too.
I think its a very cool adventure. Even to do it once.
If you do, it would be cool for have you to have a running
thread of your experiences, good and trying. Its always a interesting to me to hear stories.
Good luck with your knee.

Thanks guys - pain subsiding a bit now ...
We''ll probably just trail a boat with us for now - then sell the F32 and Chaparral and move up a bit on size/features (and dingy) and live aboard for a few months.
