Prop Recommendation for 390 Express

Post by Trojan390 »

Does anyone here have a Trojan 390 Express with Crusader 454 XL. If so, what size/type props you turning? I am looking for performance information.

Your Trojan 390 was produced by Carver. It was a design carried over from the Trojan Yacht Company in 1993, and was their interpretation of the 10.8 Meter Trojan International Express, for which I own. The first Carver model was the Trojan 370. It subsequently became the 390 and 400 throughout the years.

I am not sure what Carver used as a V-drive and the reduction gearing. My V-drive is a Walter, with a 2.5 to 1 reduction. My current props are 3 bladed 22X22. Honestly, I probably need to take 2" off the pitch to get my RPM's to 4400. I top out at 4000 right now. Speed is pretty slow on mine. 4000 rpm is about 27 mph.
