Trailer Demensions
I need some help.
What is the distance from the top of the bunks to the centre board where the keel would rest on a Trojan F32?
Any help would be appreciated.

Re: Trailer Demensions
Not sure that is the right type of trailer to transport as large/heavy a boat as an F32. Note the support pads are on the outside edge of the hull. This was a short trip on backroads as the towing vehicle is not really suitable for the job nor are the trailer wheels.

This similar trailer was pulled by a tractor head but was hard on the boat on rough roads due to it's poor suspension compared to the next one.

This is more suited for long hauls.. you can see how much more substantial it is and it was also pulled by a tractor head.

Re: Trailer Demensions
I am using the trailer for storage only....I travel all of 500 feet for pulling the boat out and putting the boat back in the water. I know I have to "extend" the frame from 4-6 feet.
This why I need the demensions for the height of the bunks to the area for the keel.

Re: Trailer Demensions
How soon do you need this? I can get to my boat in about a week, it is blocked right now. How wide will the trailer be? My point was support for longterm storage needs to be on keel and outer edges which is almost 10' at stern and more midships!
There is not good support on the hull between keel and sides to permanently use bunks IMO.

Re: Trailer Demensions
I am in no rush...likely pull the boat out in late September.
The trailer is a three axle 18,000 pound so I know the weight isn't an issue. I just need to know the approx. distance from the top of the bunks to the top of the centreboard where the keel will rest.

I will be at my boat on Monday.... what is the maximum width you can spread the bunks?Jimtap wrote:I am in no rush...likely pull the boat out in late September.

Should I measure the bottom outside edge at sides to keel base at stern, midships and where the major bow curve starts? Which is where I would want to support the boat.

Re: Trailer Demensions
The bunk are 7 feet apart, and running 30 feet in total length.

Re: Trailer Demensions
I will use that width as the basis for my measurements. I would recommend that you do not store it by supporting at those bunks but use stands at the outside edge of hull/sides at stern corner and midships hull edge by then lowering the bunks. With the main load on the keel support.Jimtap wrote:The bunk are 7 feet apart, and running 30 feet in total length.

There is little structural support inside the hull where you have the bunks running fore and aft... Also much of the forward part of the bunks will be outside the hull if memory serves me well.
I will try to detail the hull width as best as I can for your trailer design.....

Re: Trailer Demensions
Interestingly your 7 foot separation will bring you right up against a chine so you might want to have the boards extending no more than 7' spread.
Height difference between that chine and the keel bottom is around 15/16 inches and you will find the hull curves away from 7 foot width around 21feet from the transom.... 11' aft of bow point.
Hope this helps....
