Hi everybody. I'm back from a fun filled 3-day weekend teaching & testing search & rescue students. Saturday & Sunday were spent all day (& night) in the field. Rain turned to snow Saturday. All the students had a great attitude & things worked out fine...except for my hitting a deer on the way down Friday morning...and another instructor driving his vehicle over a downed tree limb on the property & poking a hole in his fuel line.
Will start sending out pennants today.

I should get the rest sent out tomorrow. I beg your indulgences for not getting them started yesterday. It was one of those days where I thanked the Lord all my family was alive.
In chronological order, my mother-in-law had a heart catherization done in Indianapolis yesterday morning. My wife Dianne was there with her. All went well. She is already scheduled for a mitochondrial valve replacement on 08 Dec.
Then in the afternoon I get a call that my daughter Jessie and grandson Aiden were in a car accident-Aiden OK, Jessie 'smashed up.' I beat the squad to the hospital. Thank God for air bags! She slid into a tree, the point of impact being her driver's side door. The side air bag deployed. In talking with the Ohio State Trooper, he said if it were not for that air bag, she probably wouldn't have survived. He said I wouldn't believe how far in the tree went. Jessie suffered no broken bones and had only a few minor cuts from flying glass. She's sore in her lift rib area and back, buth otherwise is fine. Aiden can through unscathed.
Now, upon hearing of Jessie, my wife, Dianne immediately started driving home. We had snow showers in Ohio that had some nasty white outs in them. Dianne was driving on US6 east of Bowling Green when she got caught up in a multi-car pile up on a bridge. One of the victims looked to be dead. Other cars were smashing into the pile up due to the white out conditions. A man got out of his car to assist. He got struck and thrown through the air into a guardrail by a car crashing into the scene. Dianne didn't think he could have survived either. She and another lady were the only 2 cars that didn't get hit. Then were able to drive away when the Sheriff's cars arrived on scene.
Dianne just made it home when we received a phone call from her sister, Deb, who was with their mom. She had slurred speach and her lips were swelling. We advised calling the squad and transporting to the ER. Were thinking perhaps a stroke. Turns out she experienced an allergic reaction to the dye used in the procedure. After starting at 4am yesterday morning, my 76 yr old mother-in-law finally got to bed at 7am this morning.
What a day yesterday was.

It sure sounds like a real bad , day, that, thanks to God your family is all going to be ok. People who do things for others (as you are) have good karma and perhaps, some of that reached out to your family members yestarday. I hope all will be well soon. Keep YOUR faith....

Glad To Be Alive
Yesterday was a bad day for driving in S.W. Michigan as well. I almost flipped the Jeep on the highway as I crossed over a bridge with black ice on it. Got control but it was worse than a F-32 in following seas with the trim tabs fully deployed.
Glad everyone survived the day. Just thank God fot that. And remember, when you are having the worst day of your life, someone else must have it worse. At least thats how I get through them.
I'll send out the check tomorrow morning for my 2 pennants.

THANKS YOU SO MUCH
Dave - YOU ARE THE MAN! In spite of all the problems going on in your life, you sent out the pennants prepaid!
The pennants are gorgeous, and I'm glad I got 2 - a day pennant and a parade pennant.
Best of luck with your Mother-in-law, Daughter, Grandson, Sister-In-Law and Wife! Our thoughts and prayers are with you!
Your check (and a small tip for some Root Beers) is in the mail - and you have my vote for Governor of Ohio!
Jimini - thank you as well - you're the catalyst that got this started. Hope you're feeling better for the holidays!
