Houseboat Drain Plugs

Post by jwood37 »

I recently acquired a 1971 34ft Trojan Houseboat. The bottom is full of water. Do these boats have drain plugs in the hull? I have looked but have not seen any plugs. It seems strange that there would not be a drain plug for the hull. Can anyone help me out?

not sure about housboats but cruisers at least my f28 has a garboard drain plug to the left of center near wear the bow joins bottom, and one in the rear also on the left side close to transome.

Thanks, I will take another look this weekend. Anyone else know anything about draining these boats. I have pumps but it needs to drain on its own over the winter.

Found the plug! It seems that on these boats the drain plug is on the port bow right near the bottom. Weird, but if these boats are sitting level in dry dock the bow is actually lower than the stern, so I can see why they did it this way. Problem was the drain hole is painted same color as the hull and very hard to see, especially if you are used to looking everywhere but the bow for a drain plug. Also, the marina has it on stilts/pads angled so all water drains to stern as in most boats. I finally had a stern plug installed this past weekend.
