Replace Groco SV750 seacock on 76 F36

Post by darryn »

Hello all, now that boats out of the water its time to replace this seacock. The plug was seized in the summer and we drilled a hole thru the plug to get water. My question is about procedure. I found the below pic online and this is the seacock I have. When I unbolt the "ears" does it then need to be un-threaded from the thru hull? If the thru hull stays, can I simply thread on a proper ball valve or do I also have 2 holes from the bolts? Just wondering what to expect and how to move forward from the Trojan crew. Thank you.

Yes, You will have to remove the through hull and re-bed it. Since you are going this far, you may as well replace all the parts you will be removing with new.

There are various tools to unscrew the through hull from the seacock...

There have been a few recent seacock projects on here in recent months. Also, this link provides an excellent primer to get you started.
