Fridge Wanted - Norcold
Need a new fridge for my F36. It's the orginal freezer/fridge combo made by Norcold. It's a gonner. Hoping to get my hands on a used one- the new ones are INSANE. If anyone knows of selling one, please let me know.
Thanks guys.

Re: Fridge Wanted - Norcold
How is the old a gonner? These units tend to be AC/DC, and (I forget the exact details) they take incoming AC or DC power and convert it to 20V DC for operation. If your problem is in the wiring, that can be swapped out.
When my fridge died a couple of years ago I couldn't find one that fit the same space, but did find a 'donor' Norcold from a Sea Ray that was close enough in model to mine that I could re-purpose its electrical stuff.
Depending on what went on yours, you may be able to just get the right parts to get it running again.

It only runs on 110 not 12v. Not sure how to fix it it's 30 years old and just not in good condition. Seals are shot and the inside as rust. Doesn't owe me a anything.

Your choice. Interior and seals were fine on mine, but the transformer burned out. If you are definitely looking at replacement, try looking at Marine and RV sites for anything what will fit the opening you have.

Re: Fridge Wanted - Norcold
Pure 110 is cheaper than AC/DC, but only helps if you have an inverter with enough capacity on board, but if not - and if you will have long legs of travel - AC/DC helps make sure beer is cold and food isn't spoiled when you finally get to where you are going. For me, I don't really want to travel for 6-8 hours and gamble that tomorrow's night steaks are not dangerous. I want to know they are kept at the right temp for the trip.prowlersfish wrote:I went to a 110 unit . Saved a lot of $$$$ .

Ditched the nevercold. Added 4 -6volt batteries a 1750 inverter, bar fridge from homedepot and a 260 watt solar panel.Never looked back.

Re: Fridge Wanted - Norcold
I have a 110 fridge and keep a large Artic Ice pack in the freezer compartment. This keeps the fridge cool for the afternoon.

Re: Fridge Wanted - Norcold
went to a small Frigidaire unit in mine, 110 only but use genny anyway and room to set a small ice maker on top.
Hardest part was taking out the ceiling hatch and putting the fridge in. Headliner has to drop down and be re stapled back and seam resealed. Done thank goodness as when pulling indirect lighting panels on each side I fell into forward stairwell and crushed two vertebrae which hospital fixed and okay now. Whew.
BTW I never found any norcold or other fridge that would fit through door.
