I used Dynamat Hoodliner in my engine compartment and it reduced the noise significantly ( http://www.amazon.com/Dynamat-11905-Hoo ... B00069QLVC ). It has adhesive backing which worked well. Just make sure to degrease thoroughly before applying.Captain Chill wrote:What in the hell... Looks like I have 100sq' to cover.
Went to the website to order 3 rolls of the 2'x72'x54.
Price comes out to $643.50. Pricey but I can live with it.
Put in my CA shipping zip code and BAM $897.00 to ship!!! Are they out of their mind?!? It's foam, I mean come on.
Do they not sell this anywhere else? Any advice DOUGNASH?

Pricey as well. But it's a proven brand-name for sure. Says to use Dynamax Xtreme and then the hoodliner for best results. Did you do the whole cockpit floor or just above the engine. I'd love to see some pictures if you have them handy. The Dog House wrote:I used Dynamat Hoodliner in my engine compartment and it reduced the noise significantly It has adhesive backing which worked well.

Going with the Dynamat Xtreme under the cockpit and on the side walls.
Putting the Dynamat Hoodliner over the Xtreme on the hatch directly over the engine.
Will post results in my restoration journal. Thanks.

this will be sweet when done.
What kind of performance difference do you anticipate over the former engines?

Look'n good . Not trying being to be negative , but did you inspect the exhaust inside ? The reason I bring it up is the way its designed any leaking inside will get to the turbo(s) when shut down ,possibly worse . Just something to look out for as I would hate for you to have a issue after all this work .

Re: 13 meter upgrades
Well the 671's were rated at 450hp each but they were definitely not firing on all cylindersRWS wrote:this will be sweet when done.

These 871's are rated at 462hp
If I could get to a 18-20 knot cruise @ 1900rpm's I will be very happy
They should reach 2350rpm under load, so we will see what happens, I might have to re-pitch the props
My friend owns a prop shop, he was already totally disappointed I didn't have to spend big bucks on new shafts, I wasn't though lol

It's definitely a bad design
There are plugs on the bottom to drain out any water
I will at least change the plugs with ball valves to make them easy to drain
I also thought about putting a 12volt solenoid to the drain connected to the ignition, when the ignition is on and the motors are running, the solenoids will close, when power is off, they would open to drain any water

Re: 13 meter upgrades
Spent another full day on these motors
I put the intercooler back on and connected all the pipes for the cooling system
Also put in new thermostats
I have to pick up a few more hose clamps to finish
