He is out of Little creek . I don't think it would same much stopping at your place as you and me have to run about the same distance ( I have 5 miles more ) and He will have to run about 5 more then me . so Ken is only 10 miles or so farther away the you from the Solomons .

Ken . What is you GPH at cruise and what is your cruise speed ? We can time it so we are in VHF range at most times . Between Tony and me we will have you covered .

Tony, I'm at Bay Point Marina at Little Creek like Paul said. If I were to start a day early, I'd probably go up to Deltaville or Gwynns Island to make it worth my while. Thanks for the invite, where are you located? Up in Mobjack? I thought your profile says Virginia Beach?

Paul, I'd have to leave a first light or a little before. I really can't run well when it's white capping (blowing any more than 15 knots) She takes a beating in that stuff. If it's white capping, I'd have to slow down to hull speed at around 7 mph which would make for a long day and possibly a two day run to get there. But if it's calm I cruise at around 16-17 mph or 14 knots burning between 9 to 12 gph. It's been a while since I made a long run so my fuel consumption figures may be way off. I hope to have some more accurate figures by then. More than likely, I'll have some jerry cans on board just in case.

I just figured out how I can save some money on this trip if you and Tony have be covered. I'll run till I'm empty and get you guys to tow me the rest of the way.

Good morning Ken,

Last year when I went to St Michaels I came up with the plan to run the boat to my destination and then have sea tow pull me back to CT. Unfortunately that plan didn't work out.

Ken if Paul pulls you you'll have to hear how doing it covered his stern with #2 black smoke, But he'll smile while he's doing it. We can cover that story over some crown, And our cruise speeds are also the same my hull is a little higher, so we could meet up along the way, How much gas you hold ? and goin to D-ville would most likely be better than Gwynn's Island that marina needs some real work. So if you need cover it'll be there...O and if I tow you, you'd never be able to come on hear and not hear about it think about it a Carver towin a Trojan to a Trojan round up...omg. and you know they'd never let you hear the end of it. And yes I'm off Mobjack I live in Va.Bch. the Redmill end of town Off Gen. Booth

Wouldn't that #2 black smoke then cover me if I'm behind him. I'll pass and bring some oars.

I hold 54 gallons, so I will have to stop to take on more fuel at the halfway point (probably Deltaville) unless I get a mast and a sail. If they are calling for a lot of chop, then maybe I can get in right behind you so you can clear the way for me on the way there and back seeing how we run the same speed. It sounds like Paul is a hot rod with those diesels...

A Carver towing a Trojan to a Trojan round up, now that would set the mood for the weekend. I maybe blacklisted from then on. I'm sure those Trojan Emblems would be "missing" when we arrive with me in tow.

I used to live in at Chicks Beach off Shore Drive , hence my username "VaBeach1234" but now I live in Western Branch in Chesapeake. But hey, I still work at the beach in Kempsville so I guess the VaBeach username still works.

Why do you keep your boat so far from home? Mojack to Redmill is a hike.

1st keeping it up there is simple the surroundings and marina down here at the beach the pack you in like a KOA camp site. I've got and in side T-head slip that's 22X50 and the dock is 8 foot wide 60 foot long for 3k have not seen a elec. bill in a yr mostly due to buying almost all my parts form them and they have a 75 ton lift and full yard staft.
2nd I'm a FEDEX Ground contactor and all of my routes are up in the area of NN and the Burg and Middlesex and Mathews co. So I spend a lot of time on her during the week so I can help my drivers out.
3rd I don't fish so there's not much to do down here.

Black smoke only comes when pulling wayward carvers and sailboats . The Black smoke Keeps me fron seeing what is behind me

And if I ever saw a line from the stern of Tony's boat to the boat to the bow of a Trojan I would Know that Tony was being Pushed with a stiff rope . And I have witnesses here :D

I would not stop at Gwynn's Island for fuel The channel at the hole in the wall is shoaling up , I hit bottom pretty hard coming thru labor day in the channel of shore at marker #6

Tony,
I totally understand about the marina situation, sometimes I think there's more room in the parking lot between parking spaces than the slips for boats at my marina. But I'm surrounded by good people.

Paul,
Did your boat come with the smoke screen option or is that aftermarket?

Thanks for the info about Gwynn's guys. I stayed there long ago on a sailboat trip up the bay before Isabel. I think it went down hill after Isabel stromed through. It's a shame, it was a cool little place. The hotel at the marina allowed you to bring coolers full of beer in to their pool area. Everyone in the pool area was partying and we had a blast.

Isabelle wiped out the hotel blew every window out and it's a rat trap now Mathews co. as a hole never came back.. no one stood on the roofs yelling help us. if you know what I mean. And Paul smile
