..... The only time the first mate latches the fridge is if I'm going to burn some fuel on a jack-rabbit start :). I can't image, but I'd like to take and F36 on an ocean ride some time.[/quote]

You know a fellow F-36 owner is always welcome to take the helm if and when in Southwest Florida. We could each do 1/2 the great loop next summer - I'll take mine up the east coast and through the lakes to your house and you can cruise on down to mine. Swap boats for the winter then return cruise the next summer.

Oh yeah...I can barely get a day off to go to the dentist!

Tony, thanks for the invite. We'll be down in FL (Vero Beach to see Mom) in March but we also have a day trip planned to Ft Myers Beach. I seem to recall that you are from around the south gulf side somewhere. When it gets closer, I'll try to get in touch. A tour of the BriteStar would be great too, however my budget might not put me on the customer list for a while.

Likewise, if you or other Trojan owners are near Minneapolis in the summer (9"15" of ice on the river in the winter makes cruising difficult so the ole girl is on the hard till April) I'd be honored to let you take the wheel of our F-36.

As for the great circle trip, oh some day it will need to happen...

OK, this sucked. My course made good had to be 055. I spent over two hours today slogging through this crap at about 11 kts. I found I could run at 20 kts on anything left of 000 or anything right of 130. I was going from Port Washington, NY to Norwalk, CT in Trojan 10m express. Oh, and it was raining and foggy. On the way over, seas were 2 to 4 ft with 20kts of wind out of the west. "Prevailing wind" is defined as wind from the direction in which you need to travel.

Wind Speed: 19.1 knots
Wind Gust: 24.2 knots
Wind Direction: 071 degT
Air Temperature: 44.2 degF
Dew Point: 43.3 degF
Air Pressure: 29.54 inches Hg
Humidity: 96%
Significant Wave Ht: 4.6 feet
Maximum Wave Ht: 8.4 feet
Significant Wave Period: 4.7 secs
Average Wave Period: 4.0 secs
Wave Direction: 064.8 degT
Wave Spread: 26.1 deg
Surface Water Temperature: 48.0 degF
Surface Salinity: 27.5
Surface DO Concentration: 112.9 mg/L
Surface DO Saturation: 11.0 %
Battery: 12.6 volts

The boat handled it, but it was far from comfortable.
