That is very true. I will never be caught with a broke chain either. By the way do you carry a chain connecting link?
One thing about hydraulics you for get, that chain moves all the way back to the steering. If it rubs something it can cause a problem also it will limit the area where you can run wiring while hydraulics does not.
One thing for sure, anything can go wrong with either system, they do need to be maintained.
