the port motor has the "mercruiser 233" decal on the valve covers. i'll try and post pics of the motor. they have two barrel carbs on them. from what i was told the block on the 302 and 351 are the same but the heads are different. this is why i was never a ford man! I stand corrected the Mercury 4V 351 was 255 HP the 2V was 233.

a early OMC 351 4V was 235 hp I had one .

"A simple differentiator between the Windsor and Cleveland series is the location of the radiator hose — the Windsor routed coolant through the intake manifold, with the hose protruding horizontally, while the Cleveland had a dry manifold with the radiator hose connecting vertically to a separate timing chain cover."

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia! :) :) :)

You won't find 351 Clevelands used very much in marine use . 99.99% were winsors I don't know of any production marine engine company that use the Cleveland. why ? I would guess it is becuse they took up more room and weghted more and were the same HP .( and may have cost more ) Yes they did have better heads but at the HP used for "stock " type marine engines it did not matter. I always thought the winsor had better low end and was better on fuel .
