there's a nice 13 meter in Tarpon Springs, FL.

It was originally in my town 2 years ago for about $150,000

Now listed at 59,000

I would have bought her at 59 instead of doing the refit on mine

RWS, Do you have any first hand knoweldge of this boat? I'm guessing it is "Black Jack". I've been looking at this boat( from afar... internet ) for about a year. I'm in the great lakes region and the boat is in Fl. From what I can gather it has been repossed by the bank... Was it as nice as they claim?? my broker has contacted the selling broker and all I got was it is frozen for 60 days??? There seems to be some mystery about this boat, listed on Yachtworld, then gone, price $99,000, $89,000, $59,000, reposed? any first hand info would be appreciated.

Thank you, Randy

This boat lived in Punta Gorda for several years at a private dock and was first posted for sale here locally. It may have ben listed with Redfish Yacht Brokers, a call to them might be worth your time, nothing to lose. Seems like she was about $139,000 or $149,000.

I saw the boat a year or two later, my daughter and I were out in the dinghy and we saw her from the water, birthed at the Punta Gorda marina at Fishermans village. Some of the photos posted were taken there. Probably around 2007 or 2008. I've never seen her closer than that, nor have I ever been aboard her.

She has been moved to Tarpon Springs probably about 18 mos ago or so.

If she is as represented and surveys well, she is anunbelievable buy. If I hadn't done my refit, I would buy her, or at least make an offer pending a complete survey.

What hurts her is the market, her age and the orphaned brand syndrome. I just looked at the documented vessels page listing (http://www.st.nmfs.noaa.gov/st1/CoastGu ... yName.html) and
there are several BLACKJACKS, perhaps one of those is her, however if she is in distress the registration probably was not kept up.

The huge drop in price indicates that whomever owns her wants this asset gone and the costs of keeping her birthed and afloat may be an issue. If it was a bank, I would think she would be on the hard. Perhaps the owner passed away and the heirs want to liquidate her. That would explain everything surrounding her moving from a private dock to one then another marina, but not being on the hard.

Good luck,

Of course there is this 76 F32 with diesels that is going for 110K...
WOW- 110K with Detroits?? The market here is just crap. My boat wouldn't fetch half of that and I wouldn't trade mine for that one.

Up here in Canada things are much better... though it seems that new boats tend to be selling best.... the higher earners are happy to go with New and many of those who previously looked at the lower priced 30 yr old boats have moved up or just stepped out of the market.

We just had the Toronto boat show and every Beneteau, Hanse, Jeanneau and Hunter sailboat on display was sold. There was also a lot of action at the power boat stands around SeaRay, Marquis.

I'm noticing that the boat buying public has either shifted up market or the lower end has stopped buying. I still see mid 70's Trojans that have been on the market for some time... same thing they are asking 40-50 K for them and are not prepared to drop to 20K+ where they should be due to the rise in Canadian dollar..... boat prices need to reflect equivalent US pricing.

Well if anybody knows of any "good buys" I'm looking for a 1982 to 1989 International express in 11 meter or 13 meter.( I don't like the cockpit of the 12 meter) I really don't want gas power... Diesel only. I'm in Pa. so looking at east coast ect.ect.

Thanks, Randy

I've been told that the 12 meter has a tunnel hull and is very difficult to maneuver at low speeds and in a wind while docking.

123, Thanks for the effort. Of course I've done the easy part. Yachtworld, boattrader, yachtcouncil, ect.ect. thats why I responded to this post. As mentioned those are mostly gasoline powered. Do a diesel only search and list is MUCH shorter. :D :D Thank you.

P.S. I joined this web site about six months after I thought I would like an older Trojan. Very informative, learned alot, maybe too much can't pull the trigger.

If been reading what you guys are writing and I still dont believe what Im reading, I paid around 10 grand for my 71 about two years ago, and believe me when I tell you, I put alot of $$ into this boat, it runs perfect, looks even better, and I bet you anything, I couldnt sell it for 5 grand. I dont know where you guys are getting your numbers from,
Id sell it tommorrow with everything in it, for what I paid, but I dont think anybody would pay that, why I dont know, I see people buying crap, for 20 even 30 grand, I dont get it,

I was following this thread and it looks like I probably paid too much for the one I just bought, but I really like her and "what's done is done" so I'm not gonna worry about it.

Anyway, I had to chuckle when somebody said "take the boat to FL" because that's exactly what I plan to do within the next 2 years because I HATE winter. I'm not too far from retirement and work for Whole Foods which has stores on both coasts and in Jacksonville. Right now I'm leaning toward the Naples/Ft. Myers area, but understand that I might have problems finding a liveaboard slip.

I have to keep reminding myself that boating is not an investment, it is a hobby and hobbies cost money. Therefore, if I deduct the money I would spend on something else having fun then I don't feel so bad about all the money I spend on my boat. So if I buy a boat for $30,000 and keep it for five years and sell it for $25,000 my hobby only cost me $1,000 a year. Thats a pretty cheap hobby compared to hotrods or golf because I get some money back after I get done playing with it and boating and fishing is about the most fun you can have without getting thrown in jail. :D
