I think the chances are high the logo is/was not registered. If it were and the fact that it is not being used then I would not expect there to be any penalty.
Why not go ahead and pull some designs together... only thing I care about is that the brim is not small.

Trojan yachts does not seem to be listed at http://www.uspto.gov/

Not sure what they call it, but I would like to see it made with the front of the hat having the stiff raised front and not like the soft front as pictured above.

Actually I disagree, I much prefer the cap as shown... note the design has some backing support which makes the logo stand up.
When the whole front of the cap is lined I find it sits up too much on one's head and looks 'tupid.
I rather the natural look where the edge of the cap has some movement. I just find seeing a perfect ball ontop of one's head less attractive.
But that is just me......

Why not both, and let the buyer choose.

Good idea under normal marketing circumstances.
Since this is a relatively small order size we have here the costs of that might be a problem. (I believe only around 60 Trojan pennants were sold.)
Now whichever style is in the minority I'm sure it could be done as a special order since from what I understand the embroidary route is not likely to be automated in a way to preclude different cap types in the labelling process.

Of course all this is more work for Paul and for the logo process so the price per unit might get unattractive for some.

I remember back in the early nineties when I got golf shirts with an embroidered logo the cost per became quite high for small runs when compared to shirt cost.
On T shirts screen printing was the way to go.... now we seem to have moved to iron-ons.
I still have some screen printed T's from the early nineties, not sure iron-ons last that many washes.

I agree with Larglo on the hat with more of a rigid front.

Personally, I"ll go for the laid back front. Trojan herald on the front, F-32 on the side ( or vessel of your choice )

The soft ones like LSP's are more durable and feel like higher quality to me.
