ok cool I just looked it up on the website and its 58 a year and thats 25 miles off shore. What do you mean qjets? Not familiar w/ that term. What the symptoms of that problem?

Qjet is short for Quadrajet - type of 4-barrel carb. Spreadbore ) vs Square-bore (like AFBs and Holleys. Very efficient and 750CFM when opened up, but can't find seals that will hold up to our gov't mandated ethanol. I have a new set to install next week - guaranteed not to break down with ethanol (we'll see).
$58/year?

No, its:
- $34/year - Freshwater Lakes and Rivers
$125/year - Coastal Salt and Freshwater

Sorry - I assumed you were on the coast ...

$125+
How do you know? Well, the accl pump seal goes, and fuel begins dumping in/on your engine. If you have th throttle open enough (1/2+), you keep running, but notice its rough - and then see black smoke coming fromt he exhaust (VERY rich). When you raise the engine cover, you see/small gas pouring out of and all over the carb and engine. Last year, I rebuilt the carb in the middle of the harbor once when it happened (had a spare set of seals).
Its so wonderful that our government has decided to become mechanical and chemical engineers and mandate ethanol to the unknowing masses ...

its ok i was just kidding around. i was just curious about the issue becasue on our boat we are having trouble getting to top speed sometimes. we maxed out at about 31 one time and i know shes capable of about 33 but our average max is like 28 so were at a 5mph loss. proably the fact that the trim tabs were never functional until about 4 days ago so we'll see this season

Hey all,
Thanks for all the input. I took Pauls wise advise to shop around and saved myself about $2,000.00 a year. Went with Boat US. unlimited plus towing and Marine Underwriters for the Insurance. Fairly good coverage anywhere in U.S. up to 125 miles offshore but no coverage against uninsured boaters. Should be go for throttle-up and depart Deltaville VA. about Tuesday. No computer onboard but will post to update progress when I can.
Thanks, Rick / F-36 Miss Kitty

Hey Rossjo,
Will leave Deltaville VA. for a short shakedown to Norfolk. Then hit the ICW. to the Trans. Florida Waterway and across to Ft. Myers Fl. Then head north on the Gulf ICW. to just north of clearwater. Then across the Gulf to Appalachacola Fl. / If we are still alive and healthy at that point we will probably head for Pensacola FL. although we may turn north on the Appalachacola River and run up the Chattahoochee River . Got plenty of time to think about it as alot can happen between VA. and AL.
Thanks, Rick

A great trip! We just had an Oyster Roast at the house with the last bushel of Apalachicola Oysters of this season (for us). They were perfect!
Call when you're in Charleston - we'll grab a beer ...
