A strand from the carpet went from the valve cover thru the oil pump then the filter and oil passage ways to the sender ? I don't see how , A piece of the filter ? maybe?

Paul, I know what you mean, don't ask me how, but after wiping it down, it's definately a carpet strand. I have a few of these around every once in a while as my edges aren't bound. But you know what, I've seen this before on a friends boat except that it was something like a little fur ball. That one was easy to find because it was still attached to the orifice when we pulled the sender off.

Hey Paul, just thought of something; maybe it fell into the new oil filter during a change?? My filters are difficult to get at and I have to crawl into the space to get to the front of the engines. When I prep my filters to take down below, I open the box, flip the filter over, lube the seal then down I go with the filter opening facing up in the box. I like taking the box because the filter just stays where I leave it instead of tipping over and rolling away. So falling into the output side of the filter makes more sense than the rocker cover in terms of how it would get to where it did.
