Wish I knew - tried everything (except the thing that will fix it - ha).
The fellas on BoatDiesel.com helped as well and SmokStak.com ... but no go. She starts but won't stay running after I release the start button. Bought wiring diagrams. Replaced wiring - wired around oil pressure shutoffs, etc. but nada.
Onan 3kW single cylinder. Really miss it ...

Doubt if this will help, but I'll type while finishing my last rum & coke
Had the exact same problem with a quicksilver GM genny on my last boat. The rep at Mercruiser told me it had to one of the 3 shutdown sensors, probly the low-oil. When I asked if I could just bypass it he told it that wouldnt work, because of ohms or something. I went to NAPA autoparts, picked one up for under $40, installed it and she ran Perfect till i sol her

To Do List:
1) Reseal bow deck. I had some contamination that I must not have cleared up 2 seasons ago and I have some material coming loose.
2) New fresh water tanks, new hot water tank, and re-plumb. Plan to move the tanks aft where extra gas tanks were at one time to get more weight aft.
3) large format LCD screen on the helm and finish NEMA-2000 migration of all analog senders to a single pane of glass.
Bucket list trips
1) The great loop
2) Bahamas for 3-4 months

Paul, you'll love Onancock. It's pretty close to me.... been there several times. When I meet long distance friends there I leave one of my cars there so I can shuttle them to local attractions like vineyards. (the Admirals love that) Onancock is only a 40 min drive from my house.

Ron - I've checked the Oil Pressure Switch (there's even a mechanical Oil Pressure Gauge on the engine), I think by wiring past it and it didn't fix it - but then again, that wouldn't have any resistance as you noted ... so ...
Paul - The Onan guy is now the Cummins guy (they bot Onan). I called them and asked how much to look at it. Rather than answer, they fella came to my house while I was gone (no call), broke into my boat, looked at it (didn't touch or fix anything or make any recommendations), and sent me a bill for $180 for the trip. I told them NO, so they're off the island ...prowlersfish wrote:Time to call the onan guy
