Just thought of something that might be of use to you in your research ... the Ports book. There is one for each main boating region and it describes all the different marine facilities within those regions. You get aerial pictures of the facility, info on navigation in and out of it, description of what the facility has to offer in terms of amenities, party place or quiet, kid focused, near downtown or parks, typical local boating attractions, nearby chandleries etc, etc...

Also has contact numbers for each marina, mileage charts (from point A to point B), comments on possible navigational or common weather concerns to be aware of, Cruising tips, etc... They publish a new (updated) version of each book about every 3 years.

If you make it to the Toronto Boat Show (Jan 8-16), you can probably find all the different versions the booth for the "Nautical Mind Bookstore".

That is actually http://www.marinas.com (with an s). I don't know how complete their list of marinas is, but you definitely get better information in Ports. marinas.com gives you some aerial shots and contact / coordinates info, but I think any descriptions are based on Reviews that people have posted. If nobody has reviewed the place, there is no info there. If somebody has, you don't know how accurate the info is. The pictures of my marina are at least 5 years old I think.

Still useful - don't get me wrong - I just think Ports would be way more helpful (even with the cost).
