Hey Paul. I hear you about the HP ratings but here is what is in my 2008 Survey:
MACHINERY: said vessel is powered by twin 330 Chrysler, raw water cooled, gasoline engines. The port engine’s serial number is 383BWL84167. The starboard engine’s serial number is 383BWR75627.
You will note the "383" designation in the serial numbers and left / right rotation. Additionally, "330 HP" is on each of the valve covers? A mystery? Hmm what a shock!! Ha! ha! ha!

Valve covers can come off SN's can't. I am not saying that you don't have 330 HP motors but I have also seen people put AMG badges on car that isn't. Seems like you have some detective work ahead.

Engine ID & Pix?
You are right of course about the valve covers, so the serial numbers are clearly of 383 vintage at whatever HP. Does anyone know of a site that will translate chrysler serial numbers into date of manufacture? These may not be the originals.
I am trying to upload a Pix of the boat as my Avatar but they are way too big and my company is blocking the site that does the shrinking. I'll have to do this some evening on my home PC. Can I upload pictures directly into a "message" on this forum? That I can do.

Hey Steve...... you might want to start a photobucket acct like I did. It's free, you can re-size pics, and eazy to put a pic on here by hovering over a pic and clicking on an option. Like this :

I just clicked the IMG option over the pic, then when here hit the IMG button at the top of message then paste your pic next to it

Thanks Ron & Paul. I'll give the photobucket approach a try. Sweet looking Tri-Cabin there Ron. Looks like you take care of it. Give me about 5 years and 1.7 million $$ and I'll have "Basket Case" shining like a new penny. Ha! Ha! Ha!

Went down to "Basket Case" last night and pulled the intake / outlet hoses off both A/C units. As predicted the cooling coils for these fairly new units were dry since they were installed so far above the water line so no worries there. I ensured all fuel shutoffs were closed and placed two ignition-protected heaters (low setting) in the rear engine spaces as well as under the main cabin sole where the genset and remainder of the good "stuff" lives. I actually found that the water heater still had unfrozen fresh water in it !! (the guy I bought this from should be keel-hauled). He vacated the boat in early January and literally just took his clothes and walked off the boat without so much as a single thought to the freezing weather. So by the time I got title to her she had already been sitting cold and un-winterized for a month! Since the water heater was filled, I had nothing to lose so I flipped on the breaker and lo and behold it started making hot water so it isn't damaged at all. Shut it down and opened the drain. Another expensive piece of gear saved in the nick of time!

That's one way to feel good about your boat: find another one that's in worse condition!

risctaker, welcome !
don't be to hard on the old girl, there is probably a nice boat under the neglect.
I bought a 1977 F32 last spring with a similar past, I did not have to worry about freezing, but neglect can cause many problems.
Over the last nine months I have scrubbed and cleaned, reupolstered, stripped, varnished and polished.
I replumbed the engines, head and holding tank. and now I have a pretty nice and very clean "basket case" if you will. it seems that overall, the Trojan line is a pretty well made boat, the gel coat came back, not new, but it still shines.
best of luck with the project
