Those wooden posts don't look very stable. Could be knocked out easily?
We use boat stands made specifically to withstand and spread the load of the boat.
Just sayin'...

Aah yea - now I know: posts in front does'nt mean some former poste of mine :D

You asked about the wooden posts in front of the boat. At all. it looks good, but I can ask the chief again about.

In the back we have metal-posts.

Not a 1978 Heiner. Double check the hull number. I think you will find it is a 1973 or 1974. The lower station traansmission shift levers and the rear teak deck tell me this. It is a 321 though, thats for sure.

Somebody here can decode that number for you. My observations are strictly based on these things.

1) Teak cockpit and teak on gunwales.
2) Seperated shift leveres on lower station. (Stbd. shift grouped with throttles)
3) Wood handles on bridge shift and throttle controls.
4) 1972-1977 style lower helm console (no piano hinge and it has integrated engine alarm warning lights.)

None of those things were availabe on a 1978 model. Its not a '77 either because of the seperated lower helm shifts. So I can say with absolute certainty these two things. It is no newer than 1976, and no older than 1972. It reminds me of several 1974's I have seen, which is why my original guess was in that range. Please do let me know what you find out. If you want to see a 1978 lower helm, look here. Big difference right?

His may be a 1976. 1978 they switched to hydraulic steering too, from the chain drive steering.

Yes that is a good observation as well. So there is at least 5 things that tells us this one is not a 1978.

Someone who is handy with the TRJ numbers might be able to just look and tell right away which model year it is. I am not that person. However if you need a Mercedes Benz VIN# decoded, I would gladly help on that one.
