powder coating Never seems to hold up in the marine environment at least around salt water. IMO it has no place on a salt water boat.

I don't have to worry about this where I'm from so correct me if wrong, but won't bare aluminum look like crap after a while in salt air/water?

for me? I would powder coat in a minute if I could, even if it were the sand blasting portion alone, however, I would have to pull all of the frames off of the boat, is this even possible?

Maybe they won't say anything and just write you a quote and collect your premiums. Generally speaking though, when you alter a safety feature (or remove it) and later have an accident/injury whereby you initiate a claim, you are unlikely to be covered if its later determined that you disabled/removed a feature that was originally included in the build which could have prevented/mitigated the incident. This type of modification would definately be worth mentioning to your agent when you initially purchase coverage as to avoid a dispute in the future if and when it is ever necessary to submit a claim. I don't know every line in the standard risk analysis for yacht insurance off the top of my head, but you can bet they calculate differently for having a bow rail and not having one much in the way they calculate for having an automatic fire supression system vs. a manually operated one, and its reflected in the premium you pay. Its important to note the difference between equipment deleted from the original build, equipment not present in the initial build, and equipment added/modified since the original build.

Insurance will go by the survey that will include photos , so there should be no worry if they wright the policy . That bow rail won't catch you if slip and slide anyway , only if you reach up and grab good luck LOL

I don't want to make a protracted discussion out of the bowrail issue, but as a guy who just got a $75,000 payout on insurance, dot yout I's and cross your T's. If you make mods, you need to point them out to the underwriter. We wouldn't be here having me tell you to be specific on an insurance polcy in a Trojan forum if I still owned a Sea Swril..........

Follow the links below to a trojan F36 charter boat in Wrightsville Beach NC that lead me to choose white / washed aluminum for the window frames on our boat.

blah blah blah......

My '91 S Class would look great with 18 inch rims and blacked out windows too.

That is, if you liked hacking up classics and making them into crap.
