Lower helm is nice when you're anchored overnight, relatively close to rocks, and the wind starts to blow. Makes it easier to check your swing and fire the engines if necessary. Had to do that a couple of times.
We have to anchor close to shore, because the fiords up here get deep fast, with very unpredictable bottoms.
Ahoy

The lower helm made it so much more convenient when fishing in cold weather as well as when doing engine work. I could just reach over and start the engines while standing in the engine room when doing service.

Working on the engines is the only part I like about having one , But I much rather have 2 switch in the engine room , like I have seen in some other boats . But thats me ,every one is diffrent .
Bottom line if you want a lower helm , find one with it .I belive more had them then did not .
