btw, the sale price was only $6,200... the seller knocked a hundred bucks off because we had to replace the water heater... which he's insisting on installing himself this afternoon.

We told him that was absolutely not necessary, I could do it in my sleep, and we knew the deal we were getting, but he insisted... which of course didn't break my heart... a hundred bucks is a hundred bucks!

actually, I think it's because he liked us... we've spent about 8 hours with him over two days, fully inspecting her.

He told us at one point "It really, really makes me happy to sell a boat to two people that I just know are going to live for her, and bring her back to what she was before".

This adventure is starting very, very well.

Isla is Tom Murphy's old boat, Murphy's Law... Tom and I have been friends for... never mind, I don't want to know... I've known his wife since I was 17!

Thats what I thought ."Murphy's Law" I learned that boat is well named , at least for me . Years ago when Tom had it and he had lost interest in it and it sat . Jerry the marina manager needed it moved from A dock . So as was the norm I was asked to tow it . As I wait for jerry to untie the 50 or so rotten lines on it . all had Axe knots of course . My gear shift breaks at the base ( controls both engines) of coarse this happen Just as jerry cuts the last line . I try to hold the gear shift but when I try to put one in froward I end up putting the other in reverse . This is happing with the wind blowing short tow line on and between A and B dock . So head to the lower helm ( Jerry is yelling ,clueless to the issue at hand ) So I use the lower helm to get in to the channel , This with a canvas over the windshield ( full control but blind ) Using the lower helm I get the boat over to the new slip .Without harm ( and still blind on the sides ) . Only After it was over did I find out the boat was called "Murphy's Law"

That was the first and only Time I have used the lower helm
