Strange winter here in the NE part of the US Gettaway. 32 inches of snow in 15 hours yesterday in the central NY snowbelt, and I have open water here in front of my house. Usually there is a good 30 inches of ice out there by now. Doesn't look like we'll get a freeze this winter. That means boating in late March or early April for us.

I am keeping otherwise busy until I can navigate down from Burlington, VT with the F-32. Sunday I was in waist high plus drifts of fine powdery snow while snowshoeing in the Great Range of the Adirondacks about 45 minutes from my home. This weekend I am heading out to do some more of the same, but in the Colvin Range. So you see, those of us without year round boating oppertunities have to participate in other activities to pass the long winters away. It won't be long now though until we are all posting about when we have our launch dates scheduled. ;)

hopefully we will escape the usual 'february surprise' weather wise. other than that, maccabee and i have enjoyed the snow free (for the most part) winter. god knows, i've been able to really enjoy the tri cabin in the afternoons w/ out too much discomfort.
aaron in baltimore.
