Speed vs. RPM

OK, sounds like I'm in the ball park. I thought that since I have over 200 more HP than stock I could turn bigger props at lower RPM....before the starboard rebuild my engines were originally dyno'd at 330hp and 325hp....we used the same cam and heads on the rebuild so should still be close......thanks for the responses...........John

well, i cruise at about 18 knots at 2500 RPM, i don't do much slow movement unless im leaving the dock, simply because there's a good 2 mile stretch of a no wake zone, otherwise its honestly not all that badprowlersfish wrote:.9 average ? what is your average crusin speed ? the reason I ask is you MPG is almost that of Diesels on a boat your size . Do you do A lot of low speed running ?Vitaliy wrote:forgot to mention that on average i get .9ish to the mile so in compression to you guys its really not all that to bad, i tend to stay at the 2500 RPS mark while just cruising thou, got the engines to idle at about 600 RPM
the 454s are serviced every 3 months with new filters and oil, and the engines are literally BRAND NEW, with less then 100 hours on them, and 50 of them i put on, i was actually very surprised at what i get after we got all the data back in
