I thought they did away with the 31 as a poor design that would take a dive in a wave, at least that is what they said they were going to do. Fond memories of Wormly Creek.
By the time I was in I think the 31's were only used for training (single screw) at Yorktown. I ran 41's at base Miami Beach for 3 1/2 years and the 43 (FCI) for drug interdiction for 6 months. Those boats (43) were falling apart as soon as we got them. Take a 60 knot go fast boat and load up all the Coast Guard stuff on them and they turned into a 35 knot POS. It was a shame really, we were very happy to be getting something that could keep up with a drug runner, just never worked out.

That looks like the 41s I remembered, never got to operate them just old 30s and 31 at wormely.

I laughed when I read your post, I had to add something like this just for fun, kind of like the DMV test,
the reply posts are very interesting, it seems that those of who were boating young continue to boat.

I taught the B.S.+S. course in the Auxilliary for over 25 years, just recently retired from the U.S.C.G.A., last year. I've been a boat owner for over 50 years. I will say that even now, after all these years, I still learn something new every now and again. There is always someone who can share a story about the water that we can all learn from. I took a Power Squadron course back in 1968. I joined the Coast Guard Auxiliary in 1972 and have taught classes for the past 39 years. I put in my papers in 2011 and stepped aside for the younger people to take over.
