I'm not sure what condition yours is in, Jefflaw35, but this going to be a full-on ground up restoration project for sure.

Prowlerfish & Captainmaniac, you guys certainly bring up some important issues. first off, the stringer broke before the boat was put away on jack stands. The motors gave out one after the other and while inspecting the motors, the stringer caved under the owner's foot. That's when he put it away on jack stands 15 years ago. I highly doubt it will be doing ANY traveling this year. I just plan on keeping it docked & use it as a summer relaxation spot while restoring the interior. How would I go about testing/making sure the hull is true and how would I correct it if it needed any correction prior to replacing the stringers?

Big D & Summer Storm, you guys are a riot! Let's not knock the SeaRays yet. The 1980 Express Cruiser that I'm helping restore has been a pretty nice vessel for my mentor. It's just time I branched out & picked my own weapon of choice!

And since you guys are all a bunch of picture enthusiasts, let me jump on the band wagon & start bugging Trojanman XS for pictures of his restoration & 100+ parts! Thank you in advance, sir!

lol my pics? I just stated that as it seems to keep the beasts calm in here . I have a "boatload" of pics just havent set them into a members choice format of photobucket yet. however I'm located in ny between US and Canada so weather here still sucks. once I get the tarp removed I promise to flood the site with the start to almost end pics. figure about a month.lol yeah a hundred is alot and thinking now welllll nope its still gotta be a hundred parts. I did have it easy as I bartered all the woodwork with a buddy for some ceramic installs at his home. so I just had to drive down the road once a week to pick up the finished pieces. just remember your boat didnt come with a bankbook so its start and stop points will only happen when funds become available. I must be a little braindead here as wether I'm driving a boat on the river here or working on one I get the same fun from either. good luck. ps get lots o bleach to kill the cabin smell off you'll enjoy being down there more without the stink of a 30yr old boat

Mines pretty rough but it's moving along smoothly for now. I too will go as the funds come in. Ground up restore as well. Trojan you are correct. We bleached twice but now we are waiting for bleach and gasoline smell to move out. Got a nice day today.

trojanmanXS & jefflaw35, you guys are right about bleaching the smell out. I jokingly told the previous owner that the inside smelled like cheap cigarettes & skanky hookers. He smugly replied "Well, that's what I was into 15 years ago when the boat was still running!". So with that image in mind & the fact that this is going to be a hard project, I have decided to name the boat "PIMPIN' AIN'T EASY"! I'm not very superstitious but after being on jack stands with 2 blown motors & a broken stringer for the past 15 years, I don't think a name change will bring any bad luck to this old boat.

Theres a member in here doing and awsome job restoring a 10meter someone chime in with his name . He had to replace his stringers and it looked better then factory when done. he also has alot of pics on his posts. might worth while to read up on his work petaining to the stringers.
Thats the one thing all the old timers said to check before I bought the boat was the stringers. In my case it didnt really matter if the thing had a gaping hole in the said it was coming home with me one way or the other. anything can be fixed. case in point"viagra"

I always thought a good name for a boat would be "Never again 4"
